Greetings! My name is Angela Pryor and I have served as Director at the Woodlawn Early Childhood Development Center (WECDC) for the past eight years.

Over the years, the program has grown into a high quality child care center. Our motto is “Counting and making a difference in the life of a child.

WECDC is a subcontracting site with the Chicago Public Schools (CPS) State Pre-Kindergarten Programs. As a result of this collaboration, we are able to support families with children with special needs.

I can proudly say that we have recently been reaccredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). This three phase process includes an intensive self study, a site validation visit and panel evaluation. WECDC was evaluated highly and passed this process – thus maintaining its accreditation.

At WECDC, we respect the fact that the parent is the primary educator of their children. We work closely with parents so that they remain involved in their child's daily routine. By using tools such as monthly calendars, classroom newsletters and field trips, we are able to blend the school and family environments together. We believe that continuity of care if vital to educating and caring for a child. Because of this, we minimize a child's transitions by maintaining the same teaching staff from all day long.

Our teaching staff has a high level of commitment to WECDC. This is displayed in our low staff turnover ratio, as well as their efforts to continue educational training in the field of early childhood development.

Once you have had the opportunity to visit our facility you will walk away with the sense that this is a warm and nurturing environment.

Sincerely,

Angela Sears-Pryor
