In the Chicago Housing Authority's quest to improve the lives and living conditions of its residents, thousands of families are being relocated in CHA's ambitious Transformation Plan. Service Connector (funded by the City of Chicago), was created to ensure that public housing residents are armed with the necessary tools as they move out of CHA developments into the private housing sector and into newly created mixed income settings.
The Service Connector Program assists residents with basics such as lease compliance, establishing service with utilities, housekeeping and learning to be good neighbors as they move into new areas of the city.
Other services include connecting families with T.W.O.'s other programs such as CHILD, Entry House, Family Case Management, Infant Day Care and the Woodlawn Early Childhood Development Center.
The 26 person staff at Service Connector oversees a caseload of more than 1200 families and manages six CHA developments: Bridgeport Homes, Dearborn Homes, Harold Ickes, Langston Scattered Sites, Randolph Towers and Wentworth Gardens.
